At a young age my parents pushed me towards the arts and I'm glad they did. Drawing, painting, and sculpture were often my favorite classes in school- I think that background also played a great role in prepping my understanding of vectors and 3D rendering later on. When most kids kept journals or diaries, I kept stacks of sketchbooks and drawing pencils around. It's funny now when I look back.
After working in the design and web development realm (and staring at computer screens) for the past decade, I wanted to get back to basics. No offense at all to Wacom, but the feeling of pencil on paper, or brush on canvas simply cannot be matched with my tablet in Photoshop. I truly found myself when creating organically, and it's nice to be able to tap into that when creativity stalls in other areas. Different thinking leads to better ideas.
